Accused of participating in the Right Sector, immediately after being transferred to the colony, he was put in a punishment cell

Alexander Shumkov, sentenced to four years in the Right Sector case, was taken to IK-4 in Torzhok (Tver Region) and immediately after quarantine was placed in a punishment cell. This was written on Facebook by his aunt Lyudmila Shumkova ShIZO.

“Thanks to the volunteers of the Russian legal organization, we managed to find out that Alexander Sergeevich Shumkov is in IK-4 in Torzhok. Currently in the SHIZO. From quarantine, he was immediately transferred to a punishment cell. And our officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the office of the Ombudsman are still sending letters that he is in the Bryansk pre-trial detention center, ”the woman writes.

• In December 2018, the court found Alexander Shumkov guilty of participating in the Right Sector, which is prohibited in Russia (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, he also worked as a security guard for the leader of the organization, Dmitry Yarosh. Shumkov's relatives claim that at the time of his arrest, Shumkov was not a member of the Right Sector.
• "Right Sector" is an association of Ukrainian nationalist organizations that participated in the Kiev Maidan in 2013-2014. In Russia, it is recognized as an extremist organization and banned.
• Shumkov was detained in August 2017 at a car checkpoint in the Sevsky district. In September he was arrested. The defense claims that Shumkov, as an investigator of the military prosecutor's office of Ukraine, went to meet with an informant who was supposed to tell him information about drug suppliers from the territory of the self-proclaimed DNR/LNR to Ukraine. At a meeting place near the Russian-Ukrainian border, Shumkov was attacked, beaten and taken to Russia.
