Prosecutorial check revealed the torture of prisoners

Prosecutorial inspections recorded violations in the FSIN institutions and revealed massive cases of illegal use of physical strength and special means for prisoners in each second subject of Russia . This was told by the prosecutor general of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika, speaking with a report on the Federation Council, Interfax reports .

The Seagull said that the Prosecutor General’s Office began a large -scale audit after “egregious cases” of cruelty in 2018. “Violations are established in the institutions of the penal system in each second subject, 70 % of them are in correctional colonies,” said the Prosecutor General.

According to the results of the audit, 50 criminal cases were instituted on the excess of official powers (Article 286 of the Criminal Code). The Seagull said that the cause of the violations is “the insufficient openness of the penitentiary system and the circular border generated by ineffective departmental control of the Federal Penitentiary Service and its territorial bodies.”

In 2018, several cases of torture in Russian colonies and pre -trial detention centers received wide publicity. So, on July 20, New Gazeta published a video of how colony workers torture the prisoner. It was removed by the FSIN employees themselves.
