The head coach of the Ak Bars hockey club, Zinetula Bilyaletdinov, announced that he was leaving his post. The mentor, who won the Super League championship and three Gagarin Cups with Kazan, will remain with the team as honorary president of the club academy.
“I have been in the hockey locker room since I was 18 years old, and for the last 22 years I have been on the coaching bench. After consulting with my family, important people in my life, and the club, I decided to end my work as the head coach of Ak Bars. I am grateful to everyone who was with me during these 14 years, to every player and every fan who came to the stands. This team will forever remain in my heart,” the official website of Ak Bars quotes 64-year-old Bilyaletdinov as saying.
In the current playoffs, Ak Bars, being the winner of the Gagarin Cup , lost in the first round to Omsk Avangard with a score of 0:4.
