In the Leningrad Region, workers protest against the closure of the Ford plant

Ford workers in the Leningrad Region went to the protest on Friday, demanding to reconsider the terms of dismissal. In early April, the company announced the termination of the production of cars in Russia and presented a plan of dismissal of personnel.

According to the newspaper Kommersant with reference to the chairman of the Ford trade union organization, Mikhail Sergeyev, about 200 people took part in the action. According to the head of the trade union, none of the company's management went to the protesters.

The main requirement of the protesters is to pay 24 salary to the fired workers, and not as the company’s management officially proposed, from 5.5 to 12 salaries. Sergeev said that employees are invited to conclude an agreement that guarantees the payment of only three average monthly salaries. The rest of the compensation should depend on the implementation of the plan, the lack of disciplinary sanctions and passes due to illness.

On April 8, an Italian strike began at the enterprise, which the trade union is not going to stop before the requirements are met. If the management of the management does not change, employees plan to start a full -scale strike with a stop of the conveyor. However, according to Mikhail Sergeyev, the plant team is not yet ready to go for it.

At the end of March, Ford announced the cessation of cars in Russian factories. The company explained its decision with a low level of sales in Russia. In this regard, three of the four Ford enterprises will be closed in the country. The plants in Vsevolozhsk and Naberezhnye Chelny and the motor plant in Elabuga will stop working. In the last city, a plant will continue to operate, at which commercial cars of Kuga and Explorer models are produced.
