US presidential candidate Joe Biden fell into a scandal because of his son employed in the Ukrainian gas company

Former US Vice President 76-year-old Joseph Robinet Biden for a long time takes first place among two dozen democrats, who have already advanced in the presidency or on the way to this step. On the heels of Biden, whom everyone’s name is just Joe, the 77-year-old democratic socialist Bernard Sanders, whom everyone’s name is just Bernie, advance.

Biden in this race, in all likelihood, is hindered by the fact that several women accused him of serial hugs, and a photo in which he kisses them on the lips fell into the network. The victims admit that they do not insist on a sexual subtext, but they complain that they experienced discomfort.

Recently, Biden began to criticize the fact that three years ago he, according to him, forced Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and his then Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk to shift the prosecutor general Viktor Shokin, who decided to carry out investigative actions against the youngest son Biden - Robert Hunter Biden.

Biden Jr. was appointed a member of the Board of Directors of the largest Burisma Holdings private gas company in Ukraine. This appointment did not pass by the American press, which significantly noted that Hunter Biden’s father was instructed to oversee American-Ukrainian relations and, in particular, economic assistance to Ukraine.

As New York Times wrote in December 2015, Vice President Biden went to Kyiv for meetings with the Ukrainian leadership and, among other things, planned to convince them to “activate the struggle with the corruption rampant in Ukraine and curb the dominance of the oligarchs there”.

The newspaper, however, expressed fear that the Philippics of Biden against corruption will be less convincing, since his son Hunter works in the company whose owner Mikola Zlochevsky was the Minister of Ecology of Ukraine under Victor Yanukovych.

According to New York Times, Biden Jr. began work on Burisma Holdings in April 2014. At that moment, the British authorities, investigating the case of money laundering, froze accounts $ 23 million in London banks, allegedly belonging to Zlochevsky. However, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office refused to provide the British department for the fight against economic crimes requested by him, and the London court ordered in January 2015 to defrost these avoirs.

The then US Ambassador to Kyiv, Jeffrey Payette, was outraged by this circumstance and stated in September 2015 that instead the Prosecutor General of Ukraine “sent the lawyers of the Zlochevsky letter in which she assured them that the case was not instituted against him. As a result, the money was defrosted by the British court, after which it was transferred to Cyprus. ”

The press noted that Biden Jr. had no obvious qualities that would make him attractive in the eyes of Burisma Holdings-besides his kinship with Bayden Sr.

“Hunter Biden had no experience in Ukraine,” says conservative publicist Peter Schwitzer. - He had no experience in the energy sector. The fact that he got a place in this energy company is not a legal explanation. This can only be explained by the fact that his father was responsible for providing money to Ukraine. ”

The invitation of the offspring of the US Vice President at Burisma Holdings caused serious criticism in the media and social networks, especially since his American business partner Devin Archer, who, as a student, lived in a hostel with Christfer Hinstets, a stepson of Secretary of State John Kerry, at the same time. When Kerry unsuccessfully tried to run for president, Archer was an adviser to his headquarters.

Talks about families went. But a big scandal did not work.

“Hunter Biden is a private citizen and lawyer,” the representative of the White House Kendra Barkoff told Washington Post. “The vice president does not support any specific company and has no concern for it.”

He wrote off with the former prosecutor general of Ukraine and heard from him that before dismissal he planned investigative actions against Burisma Holdings, in particular, he was going to take readings from Hunter Bayden. After Shokin’s shift, the investigation was stalled, and the Prosecutor General of Ukraine resurrected it only last year after the reckless boiden boast.

Since the American election campaign is already in full swing, Solomon’s article retold a number of conservative publications of the United States, which, if Biden remains afloat, will selflessly milk this story.

Shokin was shifted in March 2016. Prior to this, in Ukraine and in the USA he was reproached for not actively fighting corruption. So, in principle, he could be fired not only because of Biden’s threats. But, boasting of the achieved, the former vice-president of the United States took responsibility and resurrected suspicions that he wanted to disrupt the Burisma Holdings investigation.
