Chairman of the Council of Teips was detained in Ingushetia

In the Nazran district of Ingushetia, security forces detained the chairman of the Council of Teips of the Ingush people, Malsag Uzhakhov. He was taken away in an unknown direction, writes "Mediazona" with reference to his son.

According to him, several armed men in two cars arrived at their house in the village of Barsuki at about six in the morning. They told Uzhakhov to get dressed, take his documents, and then put him in an unmarked car and said they would take him “to the committee”.

• At the end of March, protests were held in Ingushetia against the redistribution of borders with Chechnya, the protesters demanded the resignation of the head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov. On March 27, clashes broke out between protesters and security forces. After that, a criminal case was initiated on violence against representatives of the authorities and on calls for mass riots. 13 people were sent to the pre-trial detention center in this case, including the leaders of the protest.

• Malsag Uzhakhov is a witness in a criminal case on the use of violence against government officials (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). He has already been summoned several times for interrogation to the Investigative Committee as a witness.

• On April 18, the Magas District Court fined Uzhakhov 20,000 rubles for a protest action against the redistribution of borders with Chechnya, which took place in June 2018. He was found guilty of organizing an event without filing a notification (part 2 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). According to his son, the court had previously fined Uzhakhov for this action, but the Supreme Court of Ingushetia reversed this decision.

• On April 3, the court fined Uzhakhov 150,000 rubles on charges of repeatedly violating the procedure for holding a public event due to the protests that took place in March 2019.
