The Basmanny Court of Moscow sent Alexey Khotin, co-owner of Yugra Bank, under house arrest until mid-June, the court's press service reports. He was detained in the case of embezzlement of 7.5 billion rubles. A representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) asked the court for such a preventive measure. House arrest for Khotin instead of detention was supported by business ombudsman Boris Titov.

It follows from the court decision that the banker is prohibited from leaving his apartment on Polyanka Street in Moscow at night - from 22.00 to 6.00; he is prohibited from communicating with other defendants in the case, except relatives. Khotin will also not be able to receive and send postal and telegraphic messages, use the Internet and telephone, except for cases when he needs to call an ambulance, emergency service, call an investigator, a lawyer or an employee monitoring his house arrest.

Khotin's lawyer declared his client's innocence in court. He noted that the criminal case against the banker was initiated with violations.

The Central Bank revoked the license of Yugra Bank in July 2017. The collapse of this bank became the largest insurance event in Russian history with payments to depositors of about 173 billion rubles. According to Interfax CEA, at the time of the revocation of its license, the bank ranked 32nd in the Russian banking system in terms of assets. He attracted funds from the public and placed them in assets of unsatisfactory quality, without creating reserves for possible losses, the regulator indicated.

Central Bank in 2017–2018 contacted law enforcement agencies at least six times regarding the activities of Ugra, Prime notes , citing the regulator’s press service. It is clarified that in five cases the Central Bank did not receive data on the progress of consideration of the application. The court declared Ugra bankrupt in September 2018. The bank’s assets were then estimated at 34 billion rubles, liabilities – at 194.8 billion rubles.

The court sent the owner of Ugra Khotin under house arrest
