Transneft reported the intentional pollution of the Druzhba oil pipeline and the initiation of a criminal case

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case of intentional oil pollution in the Druzhba oil pipeline, Interfax and TASS reports citing the presidential adviser to Transneft, press secretary Igor Demin.

“On the fact of oil pollution, law enforcement agencies in Russia opened a criminal case. The first results indicate that this pollution was a deliberate action, ”Demin said, adding that“ the stuffing of chlorological compounds was carried out through the accounting node belonging to the private structure of the Samaratransneft-Terminal ”.

According to him, now in Samara in the offices of several private organizations there are investigative actions in the case of intentional oil pollution. Demin did not specify by which article of the Criminal Code the case was opened.

Earlier, on April 19, Belarus reported a sharp deterioration in the quality of oil coming from Russia. Transneft recognized that oil in the Druzhba trunk pipeline contains organic chlorides 20 times more permissible values.

After that, Belarus temporarily suspended oil export, and Poland and Ukraine suspended the transit of Russian oil. Slovakia also announced the suspension of Russian oil.
