Khuchiev was detained on April 27 at the Vladikavkaz airport, after which he was taken to the city police department of Nazran. There, a protocol was drawn up against the oppositionist under part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (organization of a public event without filing a notification).

As the newspaper writes, the court ruling says that on June 2, 2018, on the day of the action for the direct election of the head of Ingushetia, Khuchiev organized an uncoordinated procession in Magas from the mosque under construction to the building of the republican prosecutor's office. “During the procession, political demands were put forward, expressed on posters of the appropriate content,” the document says. Khuchiev pleaded not guilty and claimed that there had been no procession in Magas on that date.

In the spring of 2019, the protests resumed. On March 26, residents of Magas held a coordinated rally against the redistribution of borders with Chechnya, its participants demanded the resignation of the head of the republic. After the official end of the rally, about two thousand protesters remained on the square all night.

In the morning, the security forces began to disperse the protesters. There were clashes between law enforcement officers and protesters, after which the authorities opened a criminal case on violence against law enforcement officers and calls for riots.
