Language of division. Is it worth a hurry with the "Ukrainianization" of Ukraine?

It seems that neither in Moscow nor in Kyiv they understood what happened in the elections, and most importantly - whether it happened at all. So far, everyone behaves as if Zelensky are a small pebble in the boot of the “big game”, which is leaded by “serious people” among themselves. In the time remaining before Zelensky’s entry, these people intend to form such a “promising” agenda so that the new president has not become jokes. Poroshenko in this field looks no less inventive than Putin. With its presentation, for several years, somewhere in the middle of the “list of desires”, the question of the language has moved with lightning speed to the top. Zelensky is thus offered not to start with the prose of life - for example, corruption - but to argue about the principles. The discussion will be difficult and apparently prolonged.

Not to Europe

As soon as it comes to the problem of the Russian language, there is immediately a doubt that Europe is in relation to Ukraine from the side where we are used to seeing it. The compass in this matter of European integration was clearly a demon, and it began to indicate in some other direction, where European values ​​are more creatively treated than in Europe itself. A cursory glance at European practice in language policy shows that here Ukraine is clearly not in trend.

In Finland, where the Swedes -speaking Finns (previously called the Finnish Swedes) make up about 5% of the population, Finnish and Swedish - official languages, and the right to study in their native Swedish should be granted at any school. On the Aland Islands, Swedish is the only official language. The fact that all the names of the streets in this country are duplicated, only the lazy did not write. Of course, the media broadcast for each audience in its own language.

In Belgium, two main language groups - French and Dutch - are distributed approximately in a proportion of 40 by 60. It is not surprising that both languages ​​are official. It is surprisingly different - in Belgium in a meager amount there is a German -speaking audience, and on this occasion the third official language in the country is German.
