Vedomosti owner Demyan Kudryavtsev will propose to the publication's board of directors to extend the contract with editor-in-chief Ilya Bulavinov for another two years, three sources familiar with the situation told The Bell. The board of directors in the new composition will meet after the May holidays, it is not known what changes will take place in it. Kudryavtsev and Bulavinov declined to comment.
- Vedomosti's first contract with Bulavinov expires in early May, Kudryavtsev said earlier, without specifying whether he would offer to extend it or look for another candidate. A source close to Bulavinov says he has not yet agreed.
- Bulavinov became editor-in-chief of Vedomosti in 2017 after the departure of Tatyana Lysova, who headed the publication for ten years. Prior to that, he headed the Internet broadcasting directorate of Channel One and the RIA Novosti website, and in 1993-2013 he worked at Kommersant.
- Under the leadership of Bulavinov, Vedomosti increased website traffic. According to Google Analytics data provided by Vedomosti to The Bell, from April 2017 to April 2019, the monthly audience of Vedomosti.ru grew from 7.7 million to 11.9 million. According to Liveinternet, from 6.9 million to 10.7 million. The audience of the paper issue of the Vedomosti newspaper grew from 127,000 to 170,000 (Mediascope data). There is no data on the financial results of Vedomosti for 2018 yet, the last two years the publication has been operationally profitable, wrote . Kommersant
- What replacements will take place on the board of directors of the founder of Vedomosti, the company Business News Media, is unknown. The company is owned by Arkan Investment JSC, Kudryavtsev's wife, Yana Mosel-Kudryavtseva (Kudryavtsev himself cannot own the publication, as he is a citizen of another state).
Find out more. In early April, it became known not only about possible reshuffles in the leadership of the publication. At the same time, Kommersant reported that Kudryavtsev was looking for a buyer for Vedomosti, naming Aleksey Golubovich, the founder of the investment company Arbat Capital, as a candidate (neither Golubovich himself nor his acquaintances confirmed this, and on April 19 the businessman told Meduza that he was not conducting such negotiations) . There are no agreements to sell the publication or attract an investor yet, says one of The Bell's interlocutors. We wrote more about this here .
