The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case for the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements (Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code) after a 12-year-old girl was blown away by the wind in the basket of a balloon, according to the website of the Crimean department of the agency.
The head of the press service of the local department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Anton Okhremenko , told RIA Novosti that on the morning of May 3, the balloon in which a family from Samara was riding with an instructor landed unsuccessfully. The adults fell out of the basket, but the girl remained inside.
“After which the balloon began to rise again. It began to be carried away towards the Black Sea,” Okhremenko said. He added that soon the balloon landed on its own in the vicinity of Feodosia, as it was running out of gas. The child was not injured.
According to investigators, the flight organizers violated safety rules. Investigators seized the shell and gondola of the fallen balloon, as well as the necessary documents.
