"Finished your wife - finish me too"

Victory Day can be the last day of life for the Karelian veteran

The 87-year veteran of the Great Patriotic War Nikolai Grigorievich Bakinov sent a letter to the President of Russia, in which he wrote that the Soviet people won fascism in four years, and Karelia authorities could not achieve the demolition of the illegal extension of the shopping center to which the veteran lives.

The first court decision on the demolition of the illegal extension was made on December 15, 2010. Then there were several more court decisions. And in 2014, the Supreme Court of Karelia seemed to put an end to this story, finally recognizing the extension of illegal and subject to demolition.

But the court decision has not yet been completed.

In March last year, Nikolai Grigoryevich showed me his apartment, whose windows overlook the roof of the Nevsky Passage shopping center. From the window of the apartment, I quite calmly got out onto the roof of the extension - it is from the windowsill at a distance of 30–40 centimeters. At the same time, the roof bevel is towards the apartments. And the roof is covered with some kind of springy material, flooded with either building resin or bitumen.

Back in 2014, the Hygiene and Epidemiology Center in the Republic of Karelia made an air on the roof and in Bakinov’s apartment. Examination showed: the concentration of phenol and formaldehyde exceeds the MPC. And in the summer, when the roof is hot, the veteran’s apartment turns into hell.

In December last year, the wife of Nikolai Grigoryevich died. Soon after the funeral, Bakinov went out with a single picket to the building of the Karelia government. In his hands he had a poster: "They finished off his wife - finish me too."

In a letter sent by the President of Russia, Nikolai Grigoryevich Bakinov wrote that over the years of the fight against the illegal extension, he realized that "ordinary people in our state are not needed by anyone." The veteran of the Great Patriotic War informed the Supreme Commander -in -Chief that he was tired of such a life, from nine years old, and that Victory Day would be the last day of his life.
