Billionaire Jeff Bezos unveils model of spaceship for flights to the Moon

Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos unveiled a prototype of the Blue Moon spacecraft for landing on the Moon on May 9, Reuters reports.

The unmanned, reusable spacecraft will be able to deliver scientific equipment, satellites and up to four small rovers to the lunar surface, BBC News notes. In addition, Blue Moon will be able to launch satellites into lunar orbit.

"It's time to go back to the moon — this time to stay," Bezos said during a presentation in Washington attended by potential customers and NASA officials.

Blue Origin tweeted that the company is ready to support NASA in its plans to land on the Moon in 2024. In March 2019, US Vice President Mike Pence announced that NASA plans to send astronauts to the south pole of the Moon by 2024.
