In Penza in the regional court on Tuesday, the process began in the case of the so -called terrorist community "Network". On the bench of the defendants - seven activists who are accused of creating an underground organization "Network" and intended to organize the explosions "to rock the masses to destabilize the situation in the country", as well as "raise an armed rebellion." The defendants-anarchists and antifa-activists-deny the existence of a "network" and other accusations. Many of them, in addition, argue that torture was applied to them.
The process is carried out by three judges of the Volga District Military Court. At a meeting on Monday, the prosecutor read out the indictment.
Among the accused are Ilya Shakursky, Dmitry Pchelintsev, Andrei Chernov, Mikhail Kulkov, Maxim Ivankin, Vasily Kuksov and Arman Sagynbaev. Some of them were confessed during the investigation, but then they abandoned them, saying that they gave them after torture or under pressure. At the same time, the criminal prosecution of Yegor Zorin, whose appearance with a confession became a formal basis for initiating a case, was discontinued, - recalls "Mediazona".
According to the indictment, in 2015, Pchelintsev had the idea to create a deeply conspiratorial community of anarchists, which would aim to overthrow power in Russia. As a result, the community "Network" was created, whose participants, according to the investigation, used "call sign" instead of names, purchased weapons and engaged in shooting training. The cells of the "network" were allegedly also created in St. Petersburg, Moscow and Minsk. The investigation believes that activists prepared explosions in different cities during the presidential elections and the World Cup in Russia. In the fall of 2017, six people were detained in Penza, and subsequently the detention continued in other cities.
After the announcement of the indictment, all the defendants said that they did not admit their guilt on charges related to terrorist activities. Two defendants - Ivankin and Kulkov - partially pleaded guilty under the article on drug sales (this charge was brought only to them). The next court hearing is on Wednesday May 15.
