In St. Petersburg, participants in solo pickets in support of Ukrainian political prisoners held in Russia were attacked by unknown persons. This was reported on the Facebook page of one of the picket participants Marianna Khanukova.
“Tonight, a group of activists who came to hold a rally on Nevsky Prospekt were attacked by ‘titushki’. In response, one of the activists received pepper spray in the face. The attackers and victims were taken to the 78th police department," the statement said.
In addition to the attackers, Khanukova herself and Vladimir Shipitsyn, who sprayed gas in response to the attack, were detained.
The police department drew up a report on Shipitsyn under Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (petty hooliganism). The attackers were released by the police.
Later, Khanukova was also released from the police, but Shipitsyn is likely to be left in the department until the trial.
Later it became known that Shipitsyn was released from the department on the same day with a fine of 500 rubles.
