The Ministry of Justice of Ingushetia, at the request of the republican prosecutor's office, will conduct an unscheduled inspection of the human rights organization Mashr, Mediazona reports , citing the head of the organization, Magomed Mutsolgov.
The order of the Ministry of Justice states that the inspection will take place from May 23 to June 13. Mashra's management must provide documentation about the organization's work and finances so that the Ministry of Justice can verify whether their activities are legal and how they spend money.
In a conversation with journalists, Mutsolgov said that he considers the upcoming inspection “one of the elements of the repressions that are now taking place in Ingushetia.”
On April 15, searches were carried out in Mutsolgov’s house and in the office of the Mashr organization as part of an investigation into the case of clashes between citizens and security forces during protests in Magas. The human rights activist himself was detained.
On April 14, the court arrested for two months members of the Ingush Committee of National Unity Musa Malsagov and Akhmed Barakhoev in the case of using force against security forces. They were detained on April 13 before leaving a special detention center in Nalchik, where they were serving administrative arrest for organizing a rally without filing a notice.
A similar incident occurred with another protest leader in Ingushetia. Barakh Chemurziev was also detained immediately after ten days of administrative arrest ended. He is suspected of organizing the use of violence against security forces; in the near future the court will choose a preventive measure for Chemurziev.
A rally took place in the capital of Ingushetia, Magas, on March 26 and 27. The participants opposed changing the administrative border between Ingushetia and Chechnya and against amendments to the law on the referendum, which relate to changing the borders and status of the republic. There were three attempts to disperse the protest of many thousands; on the night and in the morning of March 27, clashes between protesters and the police occurred .
