Chinese telecommunications company Tencent, the exclusive content provider of the HBO channel in China, did not show the final episode of the series "Game of Thrones" due to the trade war between Beijing and Washington, The Wall Street Journal reports .

The final episode of Game of Thrones was supposed to appear on the Tencent Video platform on the morning of May 20, but viewers only saw a message about problems with the transmission channel. The platform's Weibo page specified that viewers would be notified of the broadcast time. Frustrated viewers demanded a refund for the money they paid for their Tencent Video subscription, and some threatened to delete their accounts and applications, the publication notes.

An HBO spokesperson told the newspaper that China had banned Tencent from airing Game of Thrones because of a dispute between the U.S. and China. A Tencent spokesperson did not provide further comment to the newspaper.

The latest round of US-China trade talks ended without results amid another increase in US tariffs on Chinese goods. The US increased tariffs from 10% to 25% on Chinese imports worth about $200 billion.
