May 25-26-the final of the All-Russian competition of the Arche Center for beginner lecturers "First Department"
On weekends on May 25-26, the Arkha Cultural and Educational Center in cooperation with the Russian Globe and Mel Science Cultural and Educational Project Fund will hold a lecture festival, which will become the final stage of the contest among the beginner popularizers of science of the First Civilian.
The mission of the event is an increase in the prestige of educational activities, as well as the creation of conditions for the reporting of scientific knowledge and educational ideas to the society and the implementation of these conditions. “ Our goal is to attract attention and acquaintance of the audience with new names, as well as encouraging beginner lecturers. We hope that our colleagues, who are engaged in the popularization of science and the organization of lectures in different cities, pay attention to our competition and its finalists. And this will become the beginning of some new cooperation for our participants , ”says Alexei Sivukhin, head of Arkha.
The jury of the “First Department of 2019 ” included famous Russian scientists and popularizers from various fields of science: Nikolai Andreev , Alexey Vodovozov , Stanislav Drobyshevsky , Vladislav Zhitenev , Sergey Kavtaradze , Arkady Kuramshin , Sergey Moshkovsky , Sergey Popov , Peter Rodin , Vladimir Surdin and Grigory Tarasevich .
The competition "First Department" adopted 76 applications, 70 lectures were held. The first All-Russian competition was attended by novice lecturers from Astrakhan, Barnaul, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Izhevsk, Kazan, Kemerovo, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Rostov-Na-Don, Samara, St. Petersburg, Tver, Tomsk, Tula, Tyumen.
The selection of the contestants took place in three main nominations - “Humanities” , “Exact and natural sciences” and “All -already” (the best lecture on the interdisciplinary theme). Also this year was a selection for the specialization of the Script (the best processing of the popular science book to the lecture).
The lectures of all participants can be found on the YouTube channel of the Arche Center .
The selection of participants in the final was held by the organizing committee of the competition consisting of employees of the Arkha Center. Also, the organizing committee on controversial issues consulted with specialists, first of all - with the members of the jury of the competition.
The opinion of the organizing committee was based on such parameters as
- quality of performance;
- scientific reliability;
- the number of views and likes/dizlaiks on YouTube;
- comments on YouTube and social networks, reviews of listeners at lectures of the second stage;
- The potential of the contest participant as a lecturer in the future.
