Leonid Volkov was arrested for 20 days for a rally against pension reform

The Simonovsky Court of Moscow arrested Leonid Volkov, a supporter of oppositionist Alexei Navalny and project manager of the Anti-Corruption Foundation, for 20 days for repeated violation of the rules for organizing a rally (part 4, article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

Volkov was detained on the morning of May 21 because of a protest against the pension reform that took place on September 9 last year. They left him at the police station overnight.

According to Volkov, the claims of the employees of the Center "E" concerned the online broadcast of the action, which was conducted by the opposition. “Persons unknown to me were so inspired by the broadcast that they caused damage (scratch) to the paintwork of the Camry car and caused minor bruises to two police officers,” he said.

Navalny's headquarters associate Volkov's detention with the upcoming elections to the Moscow City Duma.

Rallies against raising the retirement age were held in Russia on September 9, the single voting day. In 59 cities they were not approved by the authorities. More than a thousand protesters across the country were detained.
