Engines for Sukhoi Superjet, which are created exclusively for aircraft of this type, often break down. Their manufacturer, a joint venture between the United Engine Corporation (UEC) and the French Safran, by the end of April had formed a pool of 17 replacement engines for the aircraft, but four of them were faulty, Vedomosti found out . In total, a pool of 22 engines is needed for the needs of airlines; UEC planned to spend 9 billion rubles on its creation.
- Due to engine failures, at the end of April, in the fleet of five regional airlines - Yamal, Iraero, Azimut, Yakutia and Severstal - 11 out of 40 aircraft were out of order. Most often, engine problems occur in the so-called hot part of the engine, where the fuel is burned, supplied by Safran.
- There are not enough serviceable engines for everyone, which is why the SSJ-100 of Russian airlines flies on average three times less often than aircraft like the Airbus 320 and Boeing 737-800.
- In the global market, the SSJ, on which the government spent $2 billion, turned out to be uncompetitive due to the same maintenance difficulties that made it unprofitable for all airlines except Aeroflot. We wrote about this in detail here .
