The Supreme Court of Chuvashia canceled the conviction of a 21-year-old student Anastasia Raimova, who was sentenced to three years in prison for the injury of a fellow villager, CHEB.MEDIA reports .

Raimova's case was sent for a new consideration to the Ibresinsky District Court. The prosecutor’s office asked to cancel the verdict.

In an appeal, lawyers of the student indicated numerous procedural violations. For example, the interrogation of witnesses in court was carried out in the Chuvash language, and in the protocol their words are already given in Russian. The translator was not present at the same time that, he believes the defense, could lead to a distortion of the essence of statements.

The state prosecution, writes the publication, asked to cancel the verdict due to the fact that, in his opinion, the student must be softened.

Anastasia Raymov was found guilty of intentionally causing serious harm to health (paragraph “Z” of part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code). As Mediazona wrote , a criminal case against a student of the Chuvash State Pedagogical University (ChSPU) was opened after a conflict with neighbors.

The girl asked to leave the yard of two drunken fellow villagers, one of them in response grabbed Raimov by the jacket, began to beat her and threaten her murder. At this time, the student, trying to break out, hit the neighbor with scissors, which she forgot to pull out of her pocket. Despite the fact that the justice of the peace found his neighbor Alexei Filippov guilty of the beatings, Raymova’s actions were not considered self -defense.
