The court extended Abyzov's arrest term

The Basmanny Court of Moscow has left in custody until July 25 the former Minister for the "Open Government" Mikhail Abyzov. Thus, the court granted the petition of the investigation, which asked to extend the arrest in order to carry out the necessary investigative and procedural actions, Interfax reports .

Abyzov's eight lawyers and himself asked the court to send him under house arrest, pointing out that the charges against him were not illegal and groundless.

The investigator at the trial stated that drugs were found in the former minister's apartment. In addition, according to the investigation, Abyzov spent the money obtained by criminal means to purchase an apartment in London and an estate in Italy. The lawyer of the ex-minister noted that there were no traces of Abyzov on the drug package, and the search was carried out without his participation.

Abyzov was arrested on April 27. The investigation believes that he and his partners acquired 100% in four energy companies, then artificially inflated the value of their assets and sold Almazyuvelirexport for 4 billion rubles, transferring the money to offshore. According to investigators, the value of the companies was 186 million. Abyzov believes that the deal was a market one, and the conflict around it was artificially transferred to a criminal plane.

In April, lawyers offered to post a bail in the amount of 1 billion rubles, which Roman Trotsenko, a businessman and owner of the Novaport network of regional airports, was ready to make.
