In Ingushetia, the city court of Nalchik extended the arrest of activists Azhigov, Oskanov, Mekiyev and Bakiyev and one of the protest leaders, Bagautdin Khautiev, until September 25. This was reported by MBKh Media with reference to lawyer Kaloy Akhilgov.
The lawyer believes that such a decision was made in connection with the request of the investigation. The terms of detention for all prisoners expired in the first days of June.

According to investigators, on the morning of March 27 in Magas, during the dispersal of an indefinite rally against changing the border with Chechnya, Khautiev threw a brick at the National Guard officers. The activist was charged on April 12.
Earlier, the protesters were searched . Khautiev's house was surrounded by a large number of armored vehicles and armed fighters of the National Guard. Inside were Khautiev's pregnant wife and two children.
Lawyer Aralbek Dumanshiev said that during the investigation, 22 people did not identify Khautiev, and the 23rd identified and reported that Khautiev was persuading the crowd not to conflict with the police, to calm down and disperse.
On September 26, 2018, the heads of Chechnya and Ingushetia signed an agreement on the definition of the border between the republics, which entailed the exchange of lands in the border areas. After that, mass protests began in Ingushetia demanding that the agreement be declared illegal and that a referendum be held. The protests lasted for about a month. In December, the Russian Constitutional Court nevertheless recognized the agreement as legal.
At the end of March 2019, protests resumed in the republic. After a two-day action on March 26–27, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on incitement to riots (part 3 of article 212 of the Criminal Code) and the use of violence against police officers (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). Eight activists were arrested in this case.
