An animal rights activist was detained near the State Duma. He participated in a rally against the legalization of open-air hunting

Yury Koretsky, chairman of the Alliance for Animal Defenders, was detained near the building of the State Duma in Moscow. He himself told OVD-Info about this.

At the building of the State Duma, a people's gathering was held against the adoption of a law allowing aviary hunting. The video broadcast shows that the animal rights activist was detained after the end of the gathering. Several police officers approached Koretsky and took him to a car.

Now he was taken to the Tverskaya police department. According to Koretsky, they are going to charge him with violating the rules for participation in the event (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

01:25 Koretsky was accused of repeated violation of the rules for participation in the action (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). He was left at the Tverskaya police station overnight before the trial, which is likely to take place on 24 May.

• Aviary hunting means hunting for animals that are kept in a fenced area of ​​tens of hectares. Animal rights activists believe that in such conditions, animals are not able to hide from hunters.
