For six months in social networks, a whole list of what the Generation Y was reduced: collective farms became “art centers”, the hostel-“coli-signs”, and the forest-“ecotropus”.

The term “millennials” (or “generation y”) is a designation of people who were born between the beginning of the 1980s and the end of the 1990s. They are distinguished from the older generations are distinguished by involvement in the world of technology: they met computers and phones quite early (but not as early as the next generation Z), they are used to sitting on social networks and often are the first users of new inventions and devices.
Another distinguishing feature of millennials is the rejection of old ideas and orders. At some point, the older generations began to actively criticize the Y geneor for this. Now and then the articles in the style of “Millennials destroyed X” appeared, where X is the prevailing habit, institute or industry.
In this regard, in the West a meme appeared on the basis of materials that millennials destroyed marriages (they are less likely to start a family), an banking industry (less trusted banks) and even mayonnaise. Since 2016, the media and users of social networks have made whole lists , which still reached the “murderous” generation Y.
But, abandoning some things of the "old" world, millennials sometimes simply re-bless them under a new, more fashionable formulation. So in Europe and the cities of the United States, colivhings became popular, which in Russia back in 2015 described as “hostels for millennials”.
Gradually, a joke about the re -wiring of certain things turned into a Russian -speaking meme about the generation Y. The situation in January 2019 became the most indicative. The invited HSE teacher Daria Serenko talked about how her students came up with an art center, where people will have to cultivate their plots of land.
On Twitter, they agreed that the millennials ultimately reeded either an ordinary cottage or a collective farm.
Gradually, the formulation of “millennials came up with/millennials invented”, and in social networks every now and then began to mention “new” words and phenomena that existed in practice before.

The joke even became the basis for a small game "Millennials invented."

By May 2019, the meme is still alive and quite often found on Twitter. For six months, users realized that millennials invented cardboard (Nintendo Labo Cardboard toys based on the Switch console), communism (trend for “collective consumption”), forest (interactive “ecotropes”) and many other things.
