The ex-prisoner died in hospital from injuries shortly after his release from the Yaroslavl pre-trial detention center

29-year-old Alexey Sidyakin died shortly after his release in the hospital from injuries received while imprisoned in the Yaroslavl pre-trial detention center-1, reports project the Gulagu.net .

In April last year, the Pavlovo Posad Court of the Moscow Region sentenced Sidyakin to three years in a penal colony for knowingly falsely reporting an act of terrorism (Part 2 of Article 207 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, he drunkenly called rescuers and said that the local school was mined.

A year later, due to violations, they decided to transfer Sidyakin to a general regime colony. From a pre-trial detention center in the Nizhny Novgorod region, he called his relatives and said that everything was fine with him. After that, he was transferred to pre-trial detention center No. 1 of the Yaroslavl region, and then on April 28 he was taken to the Yaroslavl hospital in serious condition.

Medical documents indicate strangulation asphyxia as the main disease. Sidyakin was also diagnosed with cerebral edema, pneumonia, tracheobronchitis and incised wounds of the forearms. Photos from the hospital show deep cuts on the patient's arms and a strip of skin on his neck. After delivery, Sidyakin was connected to a ventilator.

On April 30, the Frunzensky District Court released the prisoner due to illness. On May 7, the acting head of SIZO-1 petitioned for the immediate execution of this decision, “since Sidyakin A.V. There is a negative dynamics of the disease, the prognosis of doctors is extremely unfavorable.” On May 24, without regaining consciousness, he died in a Yaroslavl hospital.

Human rights activist Vladimir Osechkin, citing an interlocutor from the administration of pre-trial detention center-1, said that jailers were involved in the death of the prisoner. “[The managers of the detention center] tried to hide the guilt of the Federal Penitentiary Service employees in the torture, beating and actually murder of A.V. Sidyakin,” the statement says.

TASS reports that the regional department of the Investigative Committee began a pre-investigation check after an appeal from social activists.

The Yaroslavl department of the Federal Penitentiary Service denies that the prisoner was beaten in the detention center. “On April 28, 2019, in the cell of pre-trial detention center No. 1, convicted S. was found in transit through the pre-trial detention center, having attempted suicide by hanging. <...> At the time of the examination, no signs of torture or violence were found in citizen S.,” the message says.

In 2018, a video recording of the abuse of a prisoner at Yaroslavl IK-1 was published. After this, the Investigative Committee opened several criminal cases of abuse of power; 15 employees of the Yaroslavl colonies IK-1 and IK-8 are accused .
