The European Parliament has published the first forecast of the results of the elections to the legislative body of 28 EU countries, which took place from 23 to 26 May. It is based on the structure of the outgoing parliament.

Most seats, according to the forecast, will receive the European People's Party - 173. In second place is the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats - 147 seats. In third place is the movement of French President Emmanuel Macron in alliance with the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (102 seats). The Greens have 71 seats.

Thus, pro-European parties receive 493 out of 751 seats in the European Parliament. As the Associated Press notes , "populist and far-right" parties from France and Italy will win 57 seats, 20 more than in the 2014 elections.

In France, Marine Le Pen's right-wing National Rally party will win one more seat than Forward Republic! Emmanuel Macron: 24 to 23.

In Germany, the CDU/CSU alliance of Angela Merkel won the election, but showed the worst result in history. At the same time, the Greens took second place for the first time.
