In the Arkhangelsk region, two participants in a protest against a landfill at Shies station were fined

A court in the Arkhangelsk region fined Radik Adnobaev and Aleksey Bobretsov 10,000 rubles each for getting off near Shies station, where a landfill is being built. It is reported by MBH Media with reference to lawyer Alexei Kuroptev.

The court, which took place late in the evening of May 27, found the activists guilty under Article 20.2.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (organization of the mass presence of citizens). The defense is going to file an appeal.

An entrepreneur from Kargorol, Radik Adnobaev, and a local volunteer, Aleksey Bobretsov, were detained on May 27 after a conflict with employees of a private security company. Then the opponents of the landfill reported that after they tried to interfere with the operation of the equipment, they were beaten by the guards.

“Employees of the private security company threw two men into a ditch, one was hit, which led to damage to the toe, and another man was punched in the lip,” MBKh media cites the story of a witness to the conflict named Tatyana.

As a result, two people were taken away in an ambulance, while Adnobaev and Bobretsov were detained and protocols were drawn up.

• A landfill is being built in Shiyes to bring garbage from Moscow into the region. Local residents believe that the operation of the landfill will lead to an environmental disaster. For more than a month, activists have been on duty at the construction site and block the roads to the station.
• On April 7, an uncoordinated procession and rally took place in Arkhangelsk against the import of Moscow garbage, a landfill for which is planned to be built at Shies station. On that day, the police did not detain anyone, but after the event, pressure on environmental activists intensified. About 36 people were fined for holding an anti-garbage campaign in Arkhangelsk for a total amount of more than 991 thousand rubles. According to MBH Media, the figure has already reached one million rubles.
• At the end of April, a criminal case was opened under the "Dadino article" 212.1 of the Criminal Code - repeated violation of the rules of public events. Andrei Borovikov, a participant in the Arkhangelsk environmental protests, became his defendant.
