Public: "Unconscious Art"

Subscribers take pictures of street art, which arose in addition to will and contrary to circumstances.

In May 2016, the “ Unconscious Art ” community appeared on VKontakte, where subscribers post street photos of painted walls, pipes or garbage tanks. In the pictures, spots of paint are folded into abstract paintings, random garbage turns into sculptures, and the game of shadows reincarnates residential quarters into art objects.

The creator of public, artist Sasha Afix from St. Petersburg, defines the concept of community as a process whose participants do not think about art: “The main criteria are actions performed at different times in one place. This photo project is an indicator that art exists in addition to human will and contrary to the circumstances. ”

The founder of the community told TJ that the idea arose after he drew graffiti, which was painted over a few days: "I was left to admire the beautiful rectangles." Since then, Afix began to more often notice colored squares on the walls. “The idea of ​​the public was not how the spots of paint appear, but in what eyes we look at them,” he notes.

People write on the walls, and city services are forced to paint the inscriptions. As a rule, they are in a hurry for the holiday, some event. Often they do not find suitable paint, painted on which one is or just similar. Hooligans write on freshly painted. And again you have to cover it, but only the paint this time is different again. It turns out a kind of struggle of chaos and order, art and emasculation, and in this battle, samples full of picturesque power and compositional dynamism are born, referring to the works of such famous artists as Rotko, Malevich, Pollock.

The creator of the public noted that his goal was to create such a community, after watching which people "would themselves go outside and included their imagination." He believes that you can enjoy the "boring" walls, if you train vision.

The author of the community said that he himself has been engaged in art for ten years, and professionally since 2013: “My art is a clash of real world and virtual reality. I am inspired, as always, with life. ”

Recently, the photos have been sent mainly by subscribers, but the creator notes that he continues to look for new compositions. At the same time, from the “proposed” he publishes not everything and carefully selects the pictures: “At the moment of the proposed publications are more than a thousand.” Representatives of VKontakte told TJ that the community twice received a mark of Prometheus, which brought the community almost 10% of the audience.
