
In Moscow, three of the four abductors of the European Taekwondo Champion Sergey Chmul were detained, the Moscow Komsomolets reports.
On May 24, unknown people (one of them introduced himself as a police officer, an employee of the Office for Combating Economic Crimes), under threat of beating and prosecution of 28-year-old chmul in a car, and took a telephone from him.
During the week, the kidnappers managed to force a former athlete, and now the general director of one of the capital's companies, to transfer 14 million rubles from their accounts.
After that, the criminals left Chmul alone in the apartment, and on May 30 he managed to escape and contact the police.
In the Office of the Investigative Committee for Moscow, against three detained abductors aged 21 to 30 years, a criminal case has been instituted under the articles "Extortion" and "The abduction of a person". The location of the fourth accomplice is established by investigators.
