Forbes: Jay-Z becomes the first billionaire rapper

Rapper Jay-Z has become the first hip-hop artist to be conservatively worth $1 billion, Forbes reports.

The 49-year-old artist's assets include real estate in New York and California worth $120 million, production of Armand de Brignac champagne (310 million) and DʼUssé cognac (100 million). The rapper's art collection is estimated at 70 million.

Jay-Z's investment portfolio, in particular, includes a stake in Uber worth 70 million. He also owns the music streaming service Tidal, which the publication estimates is worth $100 million.

• In 2018, Forbes included Jay-Z among the ten highest paid musicians. According to the publication, the rapper earned $76.5 million in a year.
