Red Cross. Surgery. "Sterility"

This is a mattress in the Red Cross surgery department. A reader sent me a photo and a letter.

Here is her letter: “Andrey, good evening. I am writing to you on this occasion: I know that you communicate with the mayor and many other people who can help or advise what and how can be done. The point is that in our Red Cross surgery on the 3rd floor, the mattresses and bed linen are in very terrible condition, and this is the department where everything should be clean and sterile, since people are lying down after operations. Do you have the opportunity to contact us with this problem? responsible people so that they could help purchase at least a few mattresses and bed linen to replace the most worn out and worst ones. I turned to the health department and Alexey Vladimirovich, because any of us or our relatives could end up in this department.”

Attached to the letter is a video (sorry for the vertical one, I didn’t shoot it). Based on it, I would not say that the bedding is in absolutely terrible condition ( it looks very clean ), but the mattresses...

Let me remind you, this is surgery, and people lie on these mattresses AFTER OPERATIONS. It is clear that the reader also addressed the officials, but, as is customary here, no one AT THE TOP wants to take responsibility - they want to make the medical staff to blame. Here's what's further in the letter: “You just need to write the post in such a way that the medical staff and doctors are not made to blame, as the health department wanted to do today. They continued to write me a statement about the department, and they will conduct an inspection and supposedly punish the culprits. I tell them, in this situation, you are to blame, and not the head physician of the department, who already works like the rest of the staff for wear and tear for pennies. I tried to explain to them that they should allocate funds for this, and not the head physician to look for or for I will try to look for ways to help the department, which is in terrible condition, and there are people lying there, including my daughter. I was already thinking, maybe there are some funds in Smolensk or somehow try to raise funds, like they do for shelters. I’ve already thought about a lot of options in my head.”

It’s the 21st century, and if we collect money from the Red Cross around the world to buy clean mattresses, then NOTHING good will await our Smolensk region (and country)!

I also appeal to Alexey Vladimirovich and Andrey Alexandrovich - maybe you will find an opportunity from some funds (which are allocated and it is not clear how they are spent) or extra-budgetary funds to resolve this issue. I understand that this is the most irrational “manual control” and it’s a shame that the governor should solve the problem of mattresses in the hospital, but then kick in the ass the one who SHOULD solve this, who is paid a hefty salary for this and who wants to push all the problems onto the unfortunate doctors.

I really look forward to comments from the relevant services, and most importantly, to a solution to this issue.

PS: Something tells me that the situation in other departments is no better... But I wouldn’t want to bring it to the all-Russian campaign “ Collect for mattresses for the Red Cross” !
