The Novosibirsk government discussed hemp

The destruction of wild hemp was discussed in the Novosibirsk government. The authorities spoke about hundreds of hectares of the plant.

Vice Governor Sergei Nelyubov held a meeting of the anti-drug commission. It discussed the destruction of plantations of wild-growing hemp, the press service of the government reported on June 4.

“In all districts of the region last year, 771.5 hectares of wild-growing hemp were identified, the largest areas were noted in the Krasnozersky, Kuibyshev, Kargatsky, Kolyvansky, Suzunsky, Toguchinsky districts,” the administration noted. “Local self-government bodies under the control of the district anti-drug commissions destroyed 743.7 hectares of wild-growing hemp, in 24 districts the activities were carried out in full.”

Hemp was cut down, treated with herbicides and destroyed by deep plowing.

According to the head of the drug control department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Novosibirsk Region, Ivan Litus, more than 500 kg of drugs were seized in 2018. 44% were marijuana, made mainly from Novosibirsk hemp. At the meeting, it was noted that it is in demand among rural residents.

The heads of municipal districts and cities were instructed to pay attention to the work "to identify land users and landowners in whose territory hemp growth centers were found."
