The ex-director of the Novosibirsk clinic named after Meshalkin Alexander Karaskov and his wife was detained on their grandson's birthday. The surgeon’s daughter spoke about the state of her parents.

The Central District Court of Novosibirsk did not arrest Karaskov because he is in the hospital. The decision on the measure of suppression of his wife Irina Boytsova is planned to be made on June 5.

Marina's daughter Marina told the NGS site about the detention of her parents. They were taken to the IVS on June 3.

“It was my son’s birthday, I invited my parents to visit. “I had no childhood in principle-there was no father, there was no childhood, and now my father is also taken from me, at the age of 36,” added Marina Karaskova. “I don’t want this, I want him to live and see his grandchildren to grow up.”

The case was brought to Karaskov under Part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code (embezzlement), on his wife - under Part 5 of Art. 33, part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code (aiding in embezzlement). It was not officially reported what the accusations were connected with, but in 2019 the deputy director of the clinic of Meshalkin, another famous scientist Evgeny Kudshalov was accused of fraud (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and the legalization of funds (part 4 of article 174.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) in the case of a damage to 1.3 billion rubles when purchasing medicines. He is under house arrest.

Alexander Karaskov headed the list of United Russia in the elections to the Novosibirsk Legislative Assembly in 2015. The deputy became the deputy chairman of the Committee on Social Policy. On May 16, 2019, Karaskov was dismissed from the post of director of the clinic of Meshalkin, who led 20 years. At the May session of the Legislative Assembly, he resigned.
