The former chairman of the Baikalbank board Vitaly Avdeev received seven years of colony. The bank's management was found guilty of theft of almost 900 million rubles. The Ulan-Ude railway district court found five senior employees and owners of Baikalbank PJSC under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted assignment). According to investigators, they tried to kidnap money, gold and real estate totaling more than 895 million rubles, the prosecutor's office of Buryatia reports on June 5.

“All the defendants in the criminal case were assigned an additional punishment in the form of a fine of 200 to 500 thousand rubles, and the chairman of the board is the deprivation of the right to occupy positions in credit organizations for a period of three years,” the prosecutor's office said.

Baikalbank lawyer Irina Papsheva was sentenced to 4.5 years in a colony. In May 2019, she stated that in 2017, when the case was opened, she entered into an agreement with the investigation by which she was supposed to leave the pre -trial detention center and move from the suspect to the witnesses.

But in December 2017, Papsheva was offered to take on three episodes under Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, admitting to participation in crimes as part of the "gangs". Her words were published by the Domina Justice YouTube channel, on which two more videos are posted, dedicated to the criminal case of Baikalbank.

Papshev came to announce the sentence with her eyes and mouth wrapped with tape, should be from the video of the ATV television company. She also kept a sign with the words “a system of humiliation of dignity”, the first letters of which were formed in the “court”.

The Central Bank deprived Baikalbank of a license in August 2016. The branches of the organization were in Buryatia, Moscow, Crimea, Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk. The bank developed both corporate and retail business. The bank ranked 230th in Russia in terms of assets.
