Amazon introduced a new drone for delivery of goods to customers (video)

The American company Amazon introduced a new drone designed to deliver small orders to customers as part of the Prime Air service. This was reported in the company's blog .

Recall, Amazon has been developing the idea of ​​delivery of orders using small drones for several years. The Prime Air service earned in test mode in 2016 in the UK, and for all the years of work on the project, Amazon engineers have created several drones of various designs. The new drone is a hexacopter with a large hexagonal frame. Its surfaces have an aerodynamic profile that allows them to create lifting force and stabilize the flight. There is also a separate vertical stabilizer in the upper part of the drone, writes N+1 .

The main part of the drone case, capable of delivering a load weighing about 2.3 kilograms to a distance of over 24 kilometers, is located in the center of the frame. The drone takes off and sits in vertical mode, and in the air passes into a horizontal flight mode due to a change in the ratio of traction on the front and rear pairs of the screws.

In Amazon, they plan to start using new drones to deliver parcels in a few months. Note that other companies launch similar services. For example, Wing, which is owned by Alphabet holding, launched the delivery service in Australia in April, and in the coming weeks will begin delivery of food and products using drones in one of the Helsinki areas.
