A supporter of the movement “Pomorye is not a garbage dump” was fined under the law on contempt of authority

A resident of Arkhangelsk, Alexander Pushkin, was fined 30 thousand rubles for commenting in the “Pomorie is not a garbage dump” group on VKontakte. This is reported by the publication "29.ru".

On April 10, in the comments on the news about the fines for the participants of the rally held in Arkhangelsk on April 7, Pushkin expressed indignation at the decisions of the court.

On May 16, having studied the results of the study of the commentary, the police drew up a report on Pushkin. According to the police, in his commentary, Pushkin used "statements that negatively assess persons designated as 'judges'. The subject of a negative assessment is their personal qualities. The police did not quote the comment itself in the protocol. Pushkin was charged with part 3 of article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (a disrespectful statement about a representative of the authorities on the Internet). On May 31, the court found Pushkin guilty and imposed an administrative fine of 30,000 rubles on him, the minimum punishment under this article. The activist said he was going to appeal against the court ruling.

It is also reported that the police on May 29 drew up a similar protocol against 54-year-old resident of Arkhangelsk Elena Makarova for commenting on the same news.

• Part 3 of Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which provides for liability for disrespectful statements about the state, its symbols, bodies or representatives on the Internet, appeared in the Code in March 2019. It provides for liability in the form of an administrative fine from 30 to 100 thousand rubles. Yuri Kartyzhev, a resident of the Novgorod region, was the first person to be prosecuted under the law on disrespect for authorities. He was also fined 30,000 rubles for a post on VKontakte.
