At the police department, where Golunov was taken after the court decision on house arrest, investigative actions were carried out with him - in particular, his clothes were taken for examination. This was done at the request of his defense.

Ivan Golunov was detained on the afternoon of June 6. According to the investigation, Golunov “committed an attempt to illegally sell drugs on a large scale.” Golunov insists on his innocence and says that the drugs were planted on him. He links the criminal case against him with his investigative journalism. “It's because of the funeral business. I received threats,” Golunov said at the court hearing.
