The Kotlas City Court of the Arkhangelsk Region again arrested Anna Shekalova, an eco-activist and opponent of the construction of a landfill at the Shies station, for five days. It is reported by North-West. MBKh media” with reference to the volunteer Natalia Prokhorenko. When the activist was brought to court, her previous administrative arrest had not yet expired.
Shekalova was charged with organizing a mass simultaneous stay of citizens near a dangerous facility, which caused obstacles in the operation of construction equipment (part 3 of article 20.2.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
- On June 6, the Kotlas court arrested Shekalova for five days under the same article, after which the activist went on a hunger strike.
- A landfill is being built at the Shies station in the Arkhangelsk region. It is assumed that its area will be 3000 hectares. Local residents believe that the construction of the landfill will lead to an environmental disaster. For more than two months, activists have been protesting against the construction site, guarding the station and blocking the passage of construction equipment.
- Recently, pressure on protesters against the construction of a landfill has intensified. They are regularly detained , expelled from the construction site by force, and administrative protocols are drawn up against the protesters. A criminal case was opened against one activist.
