“This is either unprofessionalism, or thugs, or provocation” - Valentina Matvienko about the case of Ivan Golunov

The speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko commented on the criminal case of the Medusa specialist Ivan Golunov. In her opinion, this criminal case “justified” received a wide public outcry.

She believes that there were “a lot of questions” to the security forces who detained the journalist and charged him. Including these issues relate to the timing of the charges and the search in the apartment of the Medusa specialist.

Earlier, Matvienko said that she discussed the case of Golunov with the prosecutor general Yuri Chaika. He promised that the case would be under his personal control.

The General Prosecutor's Office already requested the investigators to verify the materials of the Golunov case and requested information about all the witnesses and the purchasers who participated in the operational-search measures for drugs in the Western Administrative District of Moscow. It was the police from CJSC who was detained by Ivan Golunov.
