The editor of the Religion department of the Dagestan publication "Chernivik" Abdulmumin Gadzhiev was detained on suspicion of financing terrorism. He does not admit guilt. "Mediazona" says what is known about this case.
In Makhachkala, the journalist of the local publication “Chernivik” Abdulmumin Gadzhiev was detained - he has already suspected of organizing financing terrorism (part 4 of article 205.1. Criminal Code) and participation in a terrorist organization (part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code).
A criminal case against a 34-year-old journalist was opened on the eve of June 13, on the basis of a report by the head of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Dagestan, Magomednabi Adilkhanov. The decision on initiating the case (is at the disposal of the “mediazones”) also mentioned a report of the senior operative of the protection service of the constitutional system and the fight against the terrorism of the Federal Security Service for Dagestan. The content of these documents is still unknown: they were not shown to the suspect and his lawyer.
According to investigators, journalist Gadzhiev, together with ten other suspects since the beginning of 2013, took part in the activities of the Islamic State (IG) prohibited in Russia by organizing financing terrorism. Money, the accusation believes, was collected to the accounts of Ansar, Aman, Aman and Mukhadzhirun charitable funds created by suspects, as well as to accounts in QIWI, WebMoney and Yandex.Money payment systems - all suspects realized that the money collected would be spent on terrorist activities. No specifics about how much money and what accounts were transferred to the decision to initiate the case.
In addition to journalist Gadzhiev, ten more people are mentioned in the document. The first on the list is Israel Akhmednabiev, known as Abu Saitlinsky, an Islamic preacher, connected, according to the FSB, with the Islamic State. He himself rejects these accusations and says that he is engaged in charity and building wells and mosques in North Africa.
The resolution also mentions Magomedbasir Hasanov - the former dean of the Islamic theology department of the Moscow Islamic Institute - he was mentioned as an institute employee in 2014, now his surnames are not on the site. In the press, Hasanov was mentioned due to the fact that, commenting on religious extremism, issued groups of the Inquisition from the Universe of the game Warhammer 40,000 for real European orders.
The detention of the theologian Hasanov was not publicly reported. The lawyer Arsen Shabanov, representing the interests of journalist Gadzhiev, told Mediazone that, according to his information, Gasanov is abroad. The remaining eight people are not publicly known; Most of them are included in the list of Rosfinmonitoring, which includes the defendants in cases of terrorism or extremism.
Little is known about the funds mentioned in the document. The Mukhadzhirun Foundation was mentioned by the FSB in connection with Abu Umar Savitlinsky - in December 2018, the special service reported that he "organized a widely branched conspiracy network intended for the financial support of terrorists under the guise of charity."
The Amana Foundation at least in 2013 headed the Magomedbasir Hasanov mentioned in the resolution. The Ansar Foundation, judging by the videos on YouTube , was engaged in the help of Syrian refugees. According to the source of Interfax, Ansar headed by Abubakar Rizwanov, who was mentioned in the decision on the initiation of the case, he was detained with journalist Gadzhiev and a certain Kemal Tambiev. Tambiev is transferred from Moscow to Dagestan. His wife says that he is a businessman, he has a proper food store, is engaged in tuning machines and the supply of mountain meltwater water.
“Rizvanov was headed by the Ansar charity foundation. He collected money, which subsequently sent abroad to the militants. For this, Rizvanov was sentenced to three years in the colony, freed in September 2018. In the wild, he resumed his criminal activity, and in the course of his development, law enforcement agencies managed to reach Gadzhiev and Tambiev, ”the source of Interfax said.
Gadzhiev himself, during interrogation, said that he was not familiar with any of the listed people except Abu Saitlinsky (the interrogation protocol is at the disposal of the editorial office). The journalist, according to him, met this preacher in 2011, when he turned to the Chernivka editorial office and asked him to interview him. Gadzhiev talked with him “on common topics” and no longer talked. The investigator also asked Gadzhiev about the activities of three charitable foundations; He replied that he transferred money only to the Dagestan Foundation “Nadezhda”, and about “Aman”, “Ansar” and “Mukhajirun” know nothing.
The investigator also asked Gadzhiev about whether he had been abroad. The journalist told how he was visiting his wife's relatives in Turkey; What was in Kuwait at a conference on the prevention of extremism, and was also in the United Arab Emirates and in Saudi Arabia. He did not recognize the guilt of financing the Islamic State and in the participation of it.
The editors of Chernivka in her statement compared the case against her journalist with the case of Ivan Golunov.
“To make it clear to a wide range of readers who know about Dagestan only from the news release, we will explain what is the accusation of financing terrorism in the North Caucasus. This is about the same as the tossing of drugs to Ivan Golunov in Moscow. If a person needs to be planted, and if he is at least a little involved in religious activities, then ... the reason can always be found, ”the publication says .
In a conversation with the Mediazone, the editor-in-chief of Chernivik Mairbek Agayev called Gadzhiev any of the most experienced journalists who had no problems either with the law or with any people.
“This is a professional in his field, he was engaged in journalism, led the section“ Religion ”. He did not write on purely religious topics, each article was of affordable explanations on the topic of life from a religious point of view - for example, Islamic finances, Islamic economy and so on. There were never complaints about his professional activity, ”said the editor -in -chief.
He found it difficult to call the exact cause of the criminal case against his employee, but emphasized that Gadzhiev had neither a direct nor indirect attitude to terrorism. “Maybe the preaching side of his life might not like. In addition to work, he also has projects, ”he suggested.
Lawyer Arsen Shabanov adds that the detained journalist always opposed extremism, and the charges against him are absurd. “To detain such a person is the support of terrorism,” the defender emphasized.
According to Shabanov, the investigation will ask for the arrest of a journalist; The meeting, he suggests, will be held on Saturday, June 15.
