In the city of Mednogorsk, Orenburg Region, human rights activist Yevgeny Pleskachev became a defendant in the second criminal case. He himself told OVD-Info about this.
On June 18, Pleskachev was handed a notice of initiation of a criminal case under the article on the use of violence against a representative of the authorities (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). The status of the human rights activist and what the case is connected with was not explained to him.
Yevgeny Pleskachev himself believes that the reason was the search that took place at his place at the end of April. The human rights activist has already told OVD-Info that on that day the police did not let him call his lawyer, forced him to lie face down on the floor for more than an hour, tied his hands with belts until he was blue in the face and hit him when he tried to turn on the camera on the phone.
The April search took place in connection with a case of insulting a government official (Article 319 of the Criminal Code). According to the investigation, one of Pleskachev's posts on social networks insulted the head of the investigation department, Yevgeny Kurganov. The human rights activist has not yet been told what post he is talking about, but he has already been charged.
Pleskachev several times wrote statements about police violence, but in the end these documents came to the same employees of the Investigative Committee who originally opened the case.
