The head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov will resign

The head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, announced his intention to retire ahead of schedule. This was reported by TASS with reference to Yevkurov's speech on the national television of Ingushetia.

“I have decided to apply to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin with a request for early resignation of the powers of the head of the republic from me,” Yevkurov said.

Since November 2008, I, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, have been leading the Republic, which is my Motherland.

First of all, I want to thank you, dear countrymen, for your support in all endeavors aimed at the benefit of people.

Over the years, we have come a long way together with you. Together with law enforcement agencies, we defeated such a phenomenon as terrorism and minimized extremism. And most importantly, we have achieved peace. We have lost on this path many worthy sons, real patriots of our people (eternal memory to the dead).

With the help of the federal center, we have built and continue to build schools, kindergartens, hospitals, sports facilities, roads. In many respects, the Republic has become a leader among the regions of Russia. Just the other day, we had another great joy - the half-millionth resident of our republic was born.

But none of our big and small victories, be it the victory over the evil of terrorism or, conversely, the creative improvement of our common home, would not have been possible without our common work. Without the unity of the Ingush people in achieving the goals set at each stage. Thank you for this.

Having overcome difficulties, having arranged a peaceful life in our native republic, we have never rested on our laurels. Together we work every day to solve the main task - the growth of well-being and prosperity of every Ingush family. We have proven that we can achieve our goals. Together we will solve this problem.

Dear residents of the Republic!

Everything that we have achieved, that we have today, is nothing if there is no unity of our people.

On September 9, 2018, by the decision of the deputies of the People's Assembly, I was elected the Head of the Republic of Ingushetia for another term.

According to the law, my mandate expires in 2023, four years from now.

As I have already said, there are programs for the development of our Republic, there are plans and confidence that these plans are feasible.

But one of the main conditions for this is the unity of our people. I can clearly see that today it is being tested for strength. I'm not blind, power has not eclipsed my eyes.

Let's have the courage to say that all of us - the authorities that I represent, public, religious organizations - are responsible for the fact that today we are divided. Each of us faces a choice - personal interests or the interests of the Republic. And everyone, I emphasize, everyone acts in accordance with his upbringing, his ideals.

I call on all interested parties to make their choice. I made my choice. As an Ingush, as a patriot, as a military officer who swore an oath to defend the Motherland, I decided to apply to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, with a request for early resignation from me as head of the Republic.

Having made this difficult decision for myself, I promise you that I will continue to do everything possible for the prosperity of our Great country of Russia and our native Ingushetia.

With my soul and heart I remain forever with Ingushetia, with my people, with each of you!

Yevkurov has headed Ingushetia since 2008. In 2018, the parliament of the republic elected him for a new term. Yevkurov's powers should expire in 2023.
