Section M1 will become toll after repairs by Rotenberg’s company

Mostotrest of Arkady Rotenberg won a contract for the construction and reconstruction of a section of the M1 Belarus highway - he will receive 31 billion rubles for this. The competition was held by Avtodor through the public procurement portal, the price at the auction was reduced by 0.5%, writes RBC. There were two contenders for the contract, but information about Mostotrest's competitor has not been disclosed.

The M1 highway runs from Moscow through Smolensk to the border with Belarus (to Minsk and Brest), its length is almost 450 km. The repair, however, will affect only a small section at km 33-84 in the Moscow region (from Golitsyno to Dorohovo). The contract assumes that after the reconstruction the site will become paid.

• In August 2017, Sergey Kelbakh, Chairman of the Board of Avtodor Group of Companies, said that a toll section would be organized from 33 to 132 km of the Minsk Highway.

• Back in 2016, at public hearings in the administration of the Odintsovo district, local residents opposed the reconstruction of the road and called the highway "road of death" : according to them, the design of the road is illogical (two paid central lanes and one free in each direction), which will lead to numerous accidents .
