The coordinator of the Left Front was summoned to the police to correct the protocol for the public gathering

The coordinator of the Left Front in the Penza region, Viktor Khomets, on June 25 received a summons to appear at the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Gorodishchensky district "to enter corrective data into the administrative protocol." This is reported on the website of the movement.

Khomts is charged with a repeated violation of the rules for holding a public event (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The activist was invited to the police station by 9 am on June 28. At the same time, a court session in the Gorodishchensky District Court has already been scheduled for 10 am on the same day to consider this administrative case.

The case was initiated because of the people's gathering, which was held by the inhabitants of the village of Pavlo-Kurakino on June 18. The activists themselves believe that the case against Chomets is falsified, and the police have no evidence confirming that the coordinator of the Left Front is involved in organizing the gathering.

In addition, Khometz announced his intention to nominate his candidacy for the Penza City Duma on July 13. The deadline for submitting documents for registration as a candidate is 24 July. Therefore, activists fear that the authorities are trying to get rid of an opposition candidate who, if arrested for 30 days, will not have time to submit documents for registration.

• The people's gathering was held on June 18 in the village of Pavlo-Kurakino, Gorodishchensky district. The reason for the gathering was a mass brawl in the village of Chemodanovka between the gypsy and non-gypsy population, as a result of which a person died. The police then detained the participants of the gathering and kept them in the police department for about 14 hours.
• After the gathering, the police drew up a protocol against the coordinator of the Left Front in the Volga Federal District, Sergei Padalkin, but could not provide the court with evidence of the activist's involvement in organizing the gathering. On June 19, the court dismissed the case against Padalkin.
