A resident of the Arkhangelsk region was fined for a comment about the governor

A court in the city of Kotlas, Arkhangelsk Region, fined a local resident Svetlana Baksheyeva 30,000 rubles under the article on disrespect for the authorities (part 3 of article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This was reported by MBKh Media with reference to Stanislav Seleznev, a lawyer for the Agora human rights group.

The head of Agora, Pavel Chikov, specified that Baksheeva was fined for her comment on VKontakte about Arkhangelsk Oblast Governor Igor Orlov.

The woman herself is not familiar with the materials of the administrative case and did not participate in the court session. Baksheeva learned about the fine when she received a call from the court and was told that she did not have copies of either the protocol or the decision in her hands. Lawyer Seleznev also did not receive any court decisions.

• The administrative case of Baksheeva is not the first case in the Arkhangelsk region about disrespect for the authorities. Earlier, the E center initiated five administrative cases of disrespect for the authorities due to comments in the Pomorye is not a garbage dump group on Vkontakte and another case for comments in other groups of the same social network. In total, according to Pavel Chikov's calculations , as of June 19, 2018, there were eight administrative cases in Russia under the article on disrespect for the authorities (part 3 of article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
• In March, Vladimir Putin signed a law on disrespect for the authorities. For the first offense under this law, a fine of 30 to 100 thousand rubles is provided.
