Reuters: Western special services attacked Yandex

Hackers related to Western intelligence agencies last fall the Russian Internet service "Yandex". They launched a rare malicious espionage program for user accounts. It is reported by Reuters.

According to sources, hackers tried to get technical information with which the service authorizes users. She could help attackers to impersonate the specific user of Yandex and gain access to his personal data.

The official representative of the Internet company told Reuters that the hacking attempt was stopped at the very beginning and nothing threatens users.

Three Reuters interlocutors argue that the fact of an attack on the Yandex developers group was confirmed in the Kaspersky Laboratory. It is claimed that attackers acted using the Regin program. This software is used for hacker attacks by the US special services, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, writes Reuters. It is impossible to determine which of the five countries was behind the attack. The Kaspersky Laboratory was refused comments.
