As Minyaev himself told 29.ru, he was outraged by the video of the president driving across the Crimean Bridge driving a truck. He left a comment under the video, which included the word “moron.”

“Then Putin drove a KAMAZ across the Crimean Bridge, not wearing a seat belt, without a category C license, as I understand it, and without insurance, apparently. <...> I got angry that time, because here the traffic cops really got to the bottom of every little thing, and for those in power these laws are not written,” said Minyaev, adding that he published these records in May last year, when the law on insult to power has not yet come into force.

The court considered the presence of Minyaev’s minor children as a mitigating circumstance. He himself did not come to the meeting, because, according to him, he had renounced Russian citizenship and therefore does not use a passport and does not receive summonses.

Minyaev himself connects the initiation of administrative proceedings against him with his participation in the anti-garbage protest in Shies. In May, he was detained there for obstructing the work of an excavator.

In February, Minyaev said that a case was opened against him for justifying terrorism (Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) due to the publication of an appeal by GRU Colonel Vladimir Kvachkov with a comment that he must be acquitted.
