Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in the city of Bratsk, Irkutsk Region, where a state of emergency has been declared due to flooding. It is reported by Interfax.

Putin flew to the region on his way from Japan, where the G20 summit ended. The president is expected to hold a meeting with the authorities of the Irkutsk region and heads of federal departments at the Bratsk airport.

Floods in the Irkutsk region began on June 25 due to heavy rains. Four thousand houses are now flooded in the region. The flood has already killed five people and injured more than 350.

Updated . As a result of the meeting between the president and the governor of the Irkutsk region, 662 million rubles were allocated from the Russian budget to pay compensation to flood victims. Another 318 million rubles were allocated from the regional budget, said the head of the region Sergey Levchenko. Payments have already begun, the approved lists of victims include 3.6 thousand people.
